The Deftones were often in the soundtrack of my youth. This piece is an ode to their fourth and self-titled album, Deftones. The theme of skulls and roses has been around for awhile and for good reason, it has that eye-catching, je ne sais quoi. Add a track like 'Battle-Axe' behind it and I dare you to not feel inspired!

I was working on these larger pieces in October, with Día de los Muertos around the corner, I decided to paint them with traditional sugar skull designs. A couple were hand painted and others were meticulously sprayed using hand cut stencils and an air brush with iridescent paints.
