Coloring/painting within the lines has always been something hard for me to let go of. I finally managed to start erasing those boundaries when I started to play around with alcohol ink. It has become quite cathartic for me, and I love the process of creating textures and blending colors. Although the medium has it's limitations, I have learned to take pleasure in pushing that envelop and now, experimenting with other mediums as well.
If there is a particular color palette that you like and find something on my site with a texture or style that you like to have those colors used in, this is where we put our minds together to create your own personal masterpiece.
The first step in getting started with your piece is picking what medium you want your art finished on. The classic canvas lends itself well to paint and alcohol ink, but the nuances of alcohol ink get a little muted and textures are more subtle. Yupo paper is best to get the most out of alcohol ink and can be mounted on wooden panels for added elegance. If you prefer to frame your art, you may also have your piece on yupo paper and not mounted on a panel. Finally, for an added luxury, you can have a cradled panel finished with epoxy resin. Not only does it add a beautiful protective glossy coat, but it also makes colors pop a bit, adding a bit of depth to your already beautiful piece. Once your medium, style/texture and color palette have been selected, I can offer a sample swatch for you to have an idea of how your colors will play together. After you approve, I will begin laying paint or ink to canvas/yupo/panel. My process at this point involves the use of an air brush, hand ink blower, rubber textured rollers and different spray bottles to achieve the different textures you see in my pieces.
After I've finished your art, I will seal your piece with several coats of UV protective varnish. After a couple of days, your piece is cured and ready to ship, if you chose just the yupo paper or canvas. If you chose to have your piece mounted on a panel, that is the next step. First, the your panel will be sealed to ensure longevity. Then the yupo will be carefully fitted, trimmed and adhered to your panel. After your piece is fully dry, it's ready to be wrapped, packaged and shipped to you. Now, if you want your piece sealed in resin, it'll add another week to your timeline. Not only does everything need to be fully dry, but I need to allow the resin to fully cure before I can ship your piece. If the resin is even slightly soft, anything pressing against the resin will imprint on it.
***Production time for a commission piece can be up to 2 weeks, from start to finish. Could be longer, if I have other commissions. Priority will be given in the order commissions are received.***
**If you are choosing a resin finished medium, please account for one and a half to two added weeks for curing. My process is a two stage pour, so proper curing time is crucial, not to mention trying to avoid any possible imprints or damage during shipping on soft/not fully cured resin**
